Embedded Embossing with Herbs (say what?)

"Lo non cucino spesso" means "I don't cook often" in Italian. However, I not only have stamping supplies on my kitchen bar right now, I had some Italian seasoning sitting by my stove from making some spaghetti yesterday. (My hubby was thrilled to have a home cooked meal!) Have you ever looked, I mean really looked at the variations in color in that particular seasoning blend? I looked at it closely this morning as I was putting it away. I saw some of my favorite Stampin' Up! colors represented...Always Artichoke, Old Olive and Soft Suede. I decided to try an experiment using the seasoning and White Stampin' Emboss Powder. All products Stampin' Up! with the exception of the McCormick Italian Seasoning.

The top layer is watercolor paper. I masked off an area in the top portion and tapped Versamark on that area. Before applying the embossing powder, I sprinkled some of the Italian seasoning on the area. To apply the embossing powder, I just used a small plastic spoon and sprinkled it all over the area. I heat embossed it from underneath the paper instead of the top of the paper. Once the first layer of embossing powder was heat set, I sprinkled a bit more on the area while it was still warm and again, heat embossed from underneath. If you try this, you will be amazed at how much of the seasoning is actually embedded in the melted powder.

Using the inks I mentioned above, I loosely watercolored the areas above and below the embossed area. I die cut 2 leaves with the Vintage Leaves die, one from watercolor paper and one from Soft Suede paper. I watercolored the top leaf used a texture stamp from the Touches of Textures stamp set. I lightly embossed the edge of the top leaf and one of the Classy Designer Buttons with Gold Stampin' Emboss powder, before wrapping the leaf duo with some of the gold baker's twine from the Baker's Twine Trio shown in the holiday catalog. I used a sentiment stamp from the Remarkable You stamp set at the bottom.

I know this card is a bit crazy with the Italian seasoning thing, but I have a blast when my bizarre brain comes up with some of these ideas!
