Icy Branch and New Weekly Deals

I have completely underutilized the Joyful Season stamp set from Stampin' Up's Holiday Catalog.

The bird is amazing, but look at the branches! So many wonderful things you could do with them.

I did a simple watercolor wash using Crumb Cake & Tip Top Taupe inks, then stamped and embossed the branch with Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder and added the bling. The greeting is from the stamp set called Happy Scenes, also in the Holiday Catalog.

I know this is almost absent of color, but I just love the simplicity of this card. Both stamp sets are still available right now, but won't be for long.

This a SERIOUS year-end sale and items are only available while supplies last. This is a perfect time to pick up some of those Christmas-y items you thought you just had to have, as well as tons of other goodies. See the items here

Sneak Peek: Beautiful Ride

When I saw the stamp set called Beautiful Ride in the new Occasions catalog (you can order from starting January 5th), I was very excited. I adore the little car! I have paired it with some images from other stamp sets for a collage-type feel. All products are Stampin' Up!

I stamped the car with Basic Black Archival Ink on Watercolor paper and colored the car using a blender pen and Bermuda Bay Ink and Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I have used Stampin' Dimensionals on both of the words and the car to add some depth and interest to the project.

The flower (Definitely Dahlia background stamp) was stamped with the Daffodil Delight Classic Stampin' Pad. At first, it was my attempt at a "funky" sun. Then I realized that I really wanted the little tree from the Sheltering Tree stamp set behind the car. I added washi tape from the Everyday Chic Designer washi tape set for the road. All in all, I really liked how it turned out. I think this would make a perfect birthday or thinking of you card.

Global Design Project #GDP015

I am playing along this week with the Global Design Project #GDP015. This week they are celebrating!

I decided to create a home decor item that could be used for either Christmas or a festive New Year's Eve party.

Believe it or not, this little project took under 30 minutes to complete. I think it is perfect for either using as a decorative accent for your Christmas or New Year's Eve celebration, or you could give it as a gift. I love how it will work for all of those things! The frame measures 6x6 with a 4x4 opening and was included in a past Paper Pumpkin kit. I took the glass out for this project.

Do a search on youtube for Stampin Up 3-D star and you will find several videos showing how to make this star. However, most of the time, the bottom layer you can see on my project is turned around where you will have points on both sides. See the star ornament in this post. That ornament will hang from a tree. I "nested" the 2 pieces of the star for this project. I used 2 pieces of 3x3 Winter Wonderland Specialty DSP to make the star. (It is on sale right now and on the retiring list)

I just love this project! So simple, so elegant. I used the star garland for staging purposes for my photos, but like it so well I will use it on my mantle exactly the same way.

Kraft & Silver Gift Wrap Idea

I must confess that I'm trying to use up some of my gift wrap supplies I have hoarded during the past few years. I just hated to buy new, when I had a closet full of things that needed to be used. The kraft colored gift wrap is from the dollar store and the wide ribbon is something I've had for a couple of years. I saw something similar on Pinterest, so I thought I would see what I could come up with. All other products are Stampin' Up!

The base of the tag is cut from the Kraft 12 x 12 heavier weight paper that is so perfect to make boxes out of. I've layered Very Vanilla cardstock  and a piece of Silver Fancy Foil Designer Vellum on top of the Kraft paper. I cut all of the tops of the tags with the Ornate Tag Topper Punch and tied all of of them together with Silver Baker's Twine.   I thought the word "jolly" (since it is my last name) and the Silver Sequin Trim were perfect to finish it off. The word is cut from a left over piece of Silver Glimmer Paper a retiring thinlit set called Christmas Greetings Thinlits, which is only available while supplies last up until January 4th.

Mossy Meadow + Real Red

Mossy Meadow + Real Red make for a very traditional looking Christmas card. All products Stampin' Up!

I can't seem to get enough of the tree stamp from the Wonderland stamp set. Even though it, along with the word dies & embossing folder are on the retiring list...it is one I'm glad I have in my stampin' stash. The tree, pine & antler stamp will be good year round. My advice is to get your set before the January 4th deadline.

My only faux pas with this card, is that I inadvertently used a retired ribbon. However, this Real Red 1/4 cotton ribbon is available and would work just as well.

I cut 4 of the word "peace" from the Christmas Greetings Thinlits Dies and glued them together with a bit of Multipurpose Liquid Glue. This really gives great dimension on this card, especially when paired with the Boughs & Berries embossing folder.

To recap: the stamp set, thinlits and embossing folder used to make this card are all on the retiring list, which can be found here. Retiring products will be available until January 4th or while supplies last. If you are viewing this blog post via email, you may have to hop on over to my actual blog to see the detailed supply list below.

Sneak Preview & Year End Sale!

Just look at the globe on this card. I am in LOVE with this image. It is from the new set called Going Global that will be available for order on January 5th from the 2016 Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalog. Saleabration starts the same day!

This set will be perfect for so many occasions. I thought in light of all that is going on in the world right now, a Christmas card that suggests "world peace" would be perfect. All products Stampin' Up!

I die cut the word Peace (from Christmas Greetings Thinlits) 4 times and glued them one on top of the other using our Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Then I tapped Versamark ink directly from the pad on top of the layered words and embossed with Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder. For the gold layer behind the top card layer, I tapped Versamark around the edges of another piece of Night of Navy cardstock and embossed the edges with the same embossing powder. This really gives a ton of dimension on this card. The splatter behind the globe is from the Gorgeous Grunge (aka "must have") stamp set.

Bring on Bling(y) Ornaments!

I had a package of clear glass ornaments left over from last year, so I thought I would see what I could come up with for a quick handmade ornament. This would be perfect to give to the hostess of a holiday party this year, trim your tree with it or just to have one on hand for those last minute gifts. All products Stampin' Up! except for the glass ornament.

This next picture is a bit blurry and I didn't realize it until it was too late. (This entire project was a bit difficult to photograph.) For the first step, I applied Tear & Tape Adhesive to the bulb in a vertical pattern coming down from the top.

For the next step, I removed the tape covering and applied Silver Stampin' Glitter to the sticky tape. I held the ornament over a coffee filter and just poured the glitter on. You can use an old paint brush to make sure all of the sticky parts of the tape are covered. You can also use a small paint brush to brush away the extra glitter on the surface of the glass, but you will more than likely never get rid of all stray glitter!

I wanted more bling at this point, so I used glue dots to apply some loose silver sequins from our Silver Sequin Trim and topped those off with tiny rhinestones from Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

I finished it off with more Silver Sequin Trim used for the hanger and a lavish bow made from Silver 5/8" Satin Ribbon.

Simple Anniversary Card & Last Day for Sale!

On November 17, my husband and I celebrated 34 years of marriage. He is the love of my life and very understanding about my Stampin' Up! obsession and my "need" for chocolate. All products Stampin' Up!

Hard to get him to sit still for a photo, but I took this one last year while visiting this cool distillery called Copper Run located near Branson, MO.

This card is very simple and mostly self-explanatory. I wanted a small amount of bling on this card, so I took a scrap piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock, tapped Versamark ink on it (directly from the inkpad) and heat embossed the strip with Iridescent Ice Stampin' Emboss Powder. I really think that little strip coupled with the Gold Metallic Thread added just the right amount of sparkle for a masculine card. If you are viewing this post via email, you may have to click on over to my page to see the supply list.
