Shimmery Hope

There is something quite beautiful about watercolor when it is "barely there". This is why I love this card so much! The Wink of Stella on the word really completes the look, don't you think? All products are Stampin' Up!

Wink of Stella is a bit hard to photograph, but I think you can see it a bit better in the photo below.

I stamped the rose image from the Rose Wonder stamp set with Versamark, then embossed with White Stampin' Emboss powder. The image has been watercolored using Flirty Flamingo ink and Pear Pizazz ink. The splatter look was achieved with my favorite stamp from Gorgeous Grunge. The word die is from the new Sunshine Wishes thinlits. I cut 3 of them and layered them up. The rhinestones finished it off with a little more sparkle.

Do you have a Stampin' Up! demonstrator? If not, I would love to be your source for these amazing products and hopefully give you a good dose of inspiration from time to time. This is not just a hobby for me, it is a passion!

Please use the hostess code shown in the top right corner when ordering online, unless your order will total $150 before shipping & tax. At that point, you become your own hostess and get all the rewards!

As always, let me know if you have any questions about the project or the products used. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Sunshine Is In The Air

This will be a quick post before I head south to my job in the busy tourist area of Branson, MO. And yes, the sun is out! Unless otherwise noted, all products Stampin' Up!

I have used the background stamp called Definitely Dahlia to give the suggestion of a sun. Click here to see another card with this flower as a "sun".  The word die and the stamped words are from the Sunshine Sayings/Sunshine Wishes bundle, which can be found here. I am already seeing so many uses for that set! Isn't the font amazing? I finished the card off with the new Basic Black Metallic Thread and a couple of sequins from my stash.

One Design, Two Cards

I just love it when I find a great layout or color combo on Pinterest. It is such a great way to get the creative juices flowing. These cards were definitely inspired by another card I saw on Pinterest using similar products. However, I've changed it up a bit and my color combos are different.  All products Stampin' Up!

I loved the Crumb Cake color mixed with the Sweet Sugarplum color on the card above, one of the new 2016-2017 In Colors that are available in the new catalog.

For the second card, I used Bermuda Bay and Sweet Sugarplum. See this post for more info on the watercolored butterfly on the card below. Don't you just love how a different color combo changes things just enough to make it look fresh?

In This World (Butterfly)

I have always loved the blue-print style stamp images, so I was thrilled to see Stampin' Up! introduce a set called In This World in the new 2016-2017 annual catalog.

I have only used one of the design images from the set, along with the word & sentiment images. All products Stampin' Up!

I stamped the butterfly image twice on watercolor paper using ink from the Basic Black Archival Archival Stampin' Pad. This ink is permanent, dries fast and is perfect when you are going to use watercolor on your projects. One of the images was on the actual card front, one was on a scrap. After stamping the image on the card front, I used my Aqua Painter and ink from my Cajun Craze Classic Stampin' Pad to do a quick watercolor wash over the entire image. (the watercolored butterfly is from the scrap piece of paper) I used the speckle stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set to add a little depth and interest on top of the watercolor wash.

The next step is to watercolor the butterfly you stamped on the scrap paper and fussy cut just the butterfly out. I used ink from my Cajun Craze Classic Stampin' Pad and the Bermuda Bay Classic Stampin' Pad.  I used a little messy bit of the new Basic Black Metallic Thread  layered under the butterfly and added the Happiness sentiment on top of the butterfly.

I knew I wanted the butterfly image on the inside also, so it would coordinate with the front of the card. In order for the butterfly to be light enough to not interfere with the words, this was a 4th generation stamped image. I inked the stamp with Cajun Craze Classic Stampin' Pad and I stamped it on a scrap piece of paper 3 times before I stamped it over the sentiment.

How cool are these images? I can see so many possibilities. These stamp images lend themselves to either clean and simple looks or more involved collage-y looks.

Pals June Blog Hop: Pick a "B"...

We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our new 2016 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month we are featuring projects that are based on “B“ themes such as Birthday, Bride or Baby. We hope to provide you with lots of ideas and that you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

I had started a watercolor project for this blog hop, but wasn't happy with my overall results. The front of the card was to have been entirely watercolored. I quickly realized I could just use parts of the watercolored panel and be quite happy. The cards below are what I came up with. Unless noted, all products are Stampin' Up!

I used one of the butterfly dies from Bold Butterfly Framelits to cut the butterfly shape for the above card. The floral image is from the Remarkable You stamp set and was embossed with White Stampin' Emboss powder.  The design element behind the butterfly is from Swirly Scribbles Thinlits. The messy threads are actually a piece of cheese cloth and the sequins were some from my stash.

I used the Elegant Butterfly punch to cut this butterfly. Check out the design elements on this one...you won't believe what they are! They are the remnants or extra pieces you have left over when you cut out the long, wavy swirl from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits. Don't you just love it? You can use those pieces to frame central design points on your card or even the sentiment. The possibilities are endless. Frayed cheesecloth and a single sequin on the body of the butterfly finish this card off. Wink of Stella Clear was used liberally on both cards to give a bit of sparkle.

Thanks for visiting. To continue with the hop, please refer to the Blog Hop Line-up below. We hope to see you on next month’s Pals Blog Hop!

Besides Whisper White, these are the colors I used for this project:

More Swirly Bird & Swirly Scribbles (Bundle)

I'm having so much fun playing with the Swirly Bird stamps & Swirly Scribbles Thinlits. It is quite easy to create a pretty artsy looking card with very little effort. This card was inspired by a card I had pinned last fall on Pinterest using similar dies, but a different combination of colors. All products Stampin' Up!

Flirty Flamingo. Say it. Doesn't it make you want to giggle? Even a little? It is one of the new In Colors and I think it mixes quite well with Basic Gray. Add in the crispness of the Whisper White cardstock and you have a winning combination. The sentiment is from the polymer stamp set called Lovely Amazing You. I seem to use the sentiments quite often from that set.

Supply List:

Sweet Sugarplum Birthday

I am absolutely loving the new Stampin' Up! stamp set with matching dies called Swirly Bird & Swirly Scribbles.  Pinterest is loaded with ideas using both the stamps & the dies, so I am not the only one crazy about them.

The color on the above card is the Sweet Sugarplum, one of the new 2016-2017 In Colors. The flower portions are from the Botanical Builder dies, but a punched flower could easily replace the one I used. I brushed the interior of the flower with Wink of Stella Clear, which gives just the right amount of shimmer.

The "happy birthday" sentiment is from the Rose Wonder stamp set. It is worth owning for the sentiments alone!

Supply list:

If you haven't seen my most pinned card (to date) on Pinterest using the Swirly Scribbles dies, click the image below to take you to my original post. I thought the wavy looking scribbles made a wonderful flag!
