Stretching Your Dies (Part 2)

If you haven't seen the post I made yesterday regarding using your dies in ways other than intended, click HERE. When I started playing around with this idea, I realized there were so many other ways to use the tree dies from the Winter Woods Bundle. This was the first card I made.

Just like yesterday's card, I cut the background tree from watercolor paper and used Moss Green Brusho on it. The die I used for that tree is circled below.

For the Old Olive tree layered on top of the Brusho tree, I used the die circled below.

As you can see from the photos of the dies, they are approximately the same height. I didn't alter the Brusho tree for this card, but I did alter the Old Olive tree by just snipping off the bottom with a pair of scissors to make the tree shorter. The little red bird is from the Best Birds Bundle. I love the little pop of Real Red on this card.

I used Brusho on watercolor paper again for the tree in the front. However, I shortened it by using the die to trim the base of the tree off to make it shorter. This is similar to what I did yesterday, only I cut yesterday's tree in three pieces. I finished it off with another little red bird and a red rhinestone.

 You can make this too!

Simply Elegant Christmas Card

The card below is deceptively simple and could be mass produced with not too much effort. All products Stampin' Up!

For the top layer, I cut a piece of watercolor paper 4 x 5.25 and swished some water & Merry Merlot ink on approximately one half of the card. Using Stampin' Emboss Gold embossing powder, I embossed the sentiment from  the Merry Christmas To All stamp set. Next, I cut a frame of sorts using two dies from the Layering Framelits Die set. I actually cut this from a scrap of Merry Merlot cardstock, before tapping Versamark ink on the frame and embossing it with the same gold embossing powder. You could also save a step and cut this frame from Gold Glimmer Paper.

As a final step to add a bit more interest to the card, I flicked some random tiny drops of the Merry Merlot ink from my paint brush to create a splatter effect. I layered the top piece on to Whisper White Thick Cardstock.

You an make it too!

Pals December Blog Hop: All That Sparkle and Shine

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for December 2016. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our new 2016 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month our projects showcase products that can add sparkle and/or shine for a finishing touch. We hope to provide you with lots of ideas and that you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

Seriously...I'm in love with the deer die cut from the Santa's Sleigh Dies Thinlits. Using the deer as a focal point makes this somewhat glitzy, but elegant card quick to make.

I used my #foolproofwatercolor technique for the background, before stamping the pine image from the Christmas Pines stamp set with Bermuda Bay ink. If you missed the post regarding this technique using baby wipes to create a background, click here. I used my most loved splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge and Gold Stampin' Emboss powder to add some interest behind the deer. I finished the card off with some gold metallic thread, gold sequins and a word cut from Bermuda Bay cardstock using one of the dies from the Christmas Greetings Thinlits.

Thanks for visiting. To continue with the hop, please refer to the Blog Hop Line-up below. We hope to see you on next month’s Pals Blog Hop!

Pals September Blog Hop: My Favorite Season

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for September 2016. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our new 2016 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month our projects represent our favorite year end Season. It may be Autumn, Winter, Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas (and maybe even a combination!) We hope to provide you with lots of ideas and that you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

I had been playing with the new stamp set called Christmas Pines, when I had the idea to mix it with a little watercolor and the tree die from Santa's Sleigh dies. I watercolored a panel, then die cut the tree out. I stamped & embossed the pine image on the tree only, then stamped & embossed the scattered looking snow/star image on the back ground. All products Stampin' Up!

I think this made an elegant looking card that actually took very little time to create. It almost has a dreamy quality about it. The gold metallic thread and sequins complete the look. Supply list below.

Thanks for visiting. To continue with the hop, please refer to the Blog Hop Line-up below. We hope to see you on next month’s Pals Blog Hop!

Icy Branch and New Weekly Deals

I have completely underutilized the Joyful Season stamp set from Stampin' Up's Holiday Catalog.

The bird is amazing, but look at the branches! So many wonderful things you could do with them.

I did a simple watercolor wash using Crumb Cake & Tip Top Taupe inks, then stamped and embossed the branch with Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder and added the bling. The greeting is from the stamp set called Happy Scenes, also in the Holiday Catalog.

I know this is almost absent of color, but I just love the simplicity of this card. Both stamp sets are still available right now, but won't be for long.

This a SERIOUS year-end sale and items are only available while supplies last. This is a perfect time to pick up some of those Christmas-y items you thought you just had to have, as well as tons of other goodies. See the items here
