Pals January 2018 “From the Heart” Blog Hop

Welcome to the Pals January 2018 Blog Hop. Our theme this month is “From the Heart” featuring heartfelt projects like Valentine’s Day, Thinking of You, Get Well and Sympathy. Whether you’re just starting the hop, or have come from a previous Pal’s blog, you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.

I had so much fun creating this card! I'm not sure I have ever used the heavier Designer Series Paper for the actual card base, but it works wonderfully. I thought this brush-stroke painted piece from the Painted With Love paper was perfect!

To cover the heart above with the chunky glitter, I used the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets. I simply snipped a piece off of the sheet, took the backing paper off and adhered a piece of Razzleberry cardstock to it. Then I die cut the heart. At that point, I took the other backing sheet off and "smooshed" the sticky side on to some chunky glitter I had poured on to a piece of scrap paper. After I got as many pieces of glitter as I could to hold, I sprinkled some Stampin' Emboss Gold Powder on top. The embossing powder stuck to the sticky parts that were not covered by the glitter. I then used my heat tool to melt the embossing powder. This process sounds harder than it really is, I will more than likely do a quick tutorial video in the next few weeks.

I layered a piece of vellum on top of the DSP to soften the look a bit and make the glittery heart "pop". Before I adhered the fancy heart, I stamped the heart border and embossed it with Stampin' Emboss Gold Powder.

I used a piece of Whisper White card stock on the inside, so I could stamp a sentiment.

The word "Love" is from the Sunshine Wishes Dies. The rest of the supply list is below. To complete the look, I added a piece of matching DSP to the envelope. All in all, I was very happy with how this turned out.

Thank you so much for hopping with the Stampin’ Pretty Pals today. Please take a minute to mark your calendar for our next hop on February 14, 2018. Now hop along using the Blog Hop Line-up below. Don’t forget to leave us a comment. We really like that.

(One More) Global Design Project #GDP022: Sketch Challenge

I'm playing along with the Global Design Project challenge (again) this week, which is a sketch challenge. This blog post will be a short one, so please let me know if you have any questions about supplies needed.

As you can see, mine is a loose interpretation of the above sketch. I made this card to give to my Husband for Valentine's Day. I just love the watercolor-y, abstract look of this card!

Don't forget that Saleabration is going on right now! For every  $50 worth of products you purchase, (before shipping and tax) you will receive one item from the Occasions catalog. (Click on "catalogs" link above) The products may be chosen from any current catalog, clearance or weekly deals.  Please use the hostess code shown in the top right corner when ordering online, unless your order will total $150 before shipping & tax. At that point, you become your own hostess and get all the rewards!

As always, let me know if you have any questions about the project or the products used. Thanks for visiting my blog.

For My Honey

Valentine's Day is just around the corner. For that reason, I've started thinking about what card (cards) I want to make my husband. I am quite enamored with the new Stampin' Up! Stacked with Love washi tape in the 2015 Occasions catalog AND the new word thinlits.

I simply cut & scored the Whisper White card base, then applied the washi tape vertically on the sides before layering up the Kraft panel. I thought the "brush stroke" stamp from Work of Art (embossed with with White Stampin' Emboss powder), made a great back drop for the heart and word. The heart was embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions folder.

I had a snippet of left over washi tape that I did not want to go to waste, so I made my own "stamp". This is a great way to carry the design of your card over to the envelope.

See the tiny flecks of embossing powder around the brush stroke image? This was not intentional, but I quite like it. I even used my embossing buddy first to cut down on the possibility of this happening. However, this is what I have figured out: our Kraft card stock appears to be much more porous than our regular card stock. The extra flecks have nothing to do with static on the paper. In other words, when you stamp on it with Versamark, the image doesn't stay quite as wet as when you stamp on our other card stock with the same ink. Get your embossing powder on there quick and keep in mind that since the image isn't quite as wet, some of the powder may blow on off and give you a very "artsy, I meant to do that" look!
