Stretching Your Dies (Part 1)

This card wasn't the first one I made using the Winter Woods Bundle tree die in a way other than intended, but it is probably my favorite. I will be posting Part 2 in this series tomorrow with a few more examples. 

For the tree, I die cut a piece of watercolor paper using the die I have circled below. I sprinkled the Moss Green Brusho Crystals on the die cut, then spritzed with water. I adore the variegated look it gives. 

The picture below shows how I used the same die to cut this tree in thirds. After I colored it with the Brusho Crystals, I actually ran it through twice more using the die as shown. Cutting it in thirds this way gives it the lovely edges that a tree should have when you layer up these layers. So much better than straight cuts with your scissors. The Big Shot Magnetic Platform really comes in handy for projects like this one. 

After cutting the tree in thirds, I layered it up on a stamped piece of cardstock. The layers are subtle, but I love how it looks. Speaking of "subtle", the wispy layer on this card is ordinary white tissue paper I used the Subtle Dynamic Embossing folder on.
