Winter Woods Meets Abstract

Besides my passion for rubber stamping, I love to draw and paint. I use watercolor and acrylics. I particularly love abstract art. At times, I trim down a piece that I have painted, because I only love part(s) of it. I had a few scraps left from one such painting that were begging to be die cut. The following cards are the results I had using dies from the Winter Woods Bundle.

The "Merry" and the word "Christmas" are from the bundle called Merry Christmas to All.

I tapped Versamark on some ordinary cheesecloth and embossed with silver embossing powder. I used the "ink smooshing" method to apply Gray Granite, Smoky Slate and Memento Black ink on to the watercolor paper for the background. I used the Subtle Dynamic Textures Embossing Folder on the layer I did the ink smooshing on. I love how the tree looks with the abstract design on it!

The little tree below was cut from the rest of the scrap I had left over.

I used the curvy die from the same bundle and layered the Wood Textures DSP under it. The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Greetings.

These same cards could be made using Designer Series Paper or interesting backgrounds made using your stamps & inks.

You can make this too!

  1. Love both non traditional Christmas cards! I’ll have to try that technique with the cheese cloth that is so.o.o cool. I’m saving up to get the winter woods bundle and I’ll add the texture embossing folder to the list. Maybe next month, we’ll see.
