I have always loved the blue-print style stamp images, so I was thrilled to see Stampin' Up! introduce a set called In This World in the new 2016-2017 annual catalog.
I have only used one of the design images from the set, along with the word & sentiment images. All products Stampin' Up!
I stamped the butterfly image twice on watercolor paper using ink from the Basic Black Archival Archival Stampin' Pad. This ink is permanent, dries fast and is perfect when you are going to use watercolor on your projects. One of the images was on the actual card front, one was on a scrap. After stamping the image on the card front, I used my Aqua Painter and ink from my Cajun Craze Classic Stampin' Pad to do a quick watercolor wash over the entire image. (the watercolored butterfly is from the scrap piece of paper) I used the speckle stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set to add a little depth and interest on top of the watercolor wash.
The next step is to watercolor the butterfly you stamped on the scrap paper and fussy cut just the butterfly out. I used ink from my Cajun Craze Classic Stampin' Pad and the Bermuda Bay Classic Stampin' Pad. I used a little messy bit of the new Basic Black Metallic Thread layered under the butterfly and added the Happiness sentiment on top of the butterfly.
I knew I wanted the butterfly image on the inside also, so it would coordinate with the front of the card. In order for the butterfly to be light enough to not interfere with the words, this was a 4th generation stamped image. I inked the stamp with Cajun Craze Classic Stampin' Pad and I stamped it on a scrap piece of paper 3 times before I stamped it over the sentiment.
How cool are these images? I can see so many possibilities. These stamp images lend themselves to either clean and simple looks or more involved collage-y looks.
