Spreading More Joy...

This post will be a bit quick, as we are gearing up for a big afternoon with family. I have been working on a few personal Christmas cards this morning.  I changed up the colors a bit and added some layering to the word, but these are done very similar to the one in yesterday's post. I adore the use of the non-traditional Coastal Cabana & Rich Razzleberry inks from Stampin' Up! I even colored the rhinestones with the matching Blendabilities!

I admit I have always had a fondness for neutral colors. The card below pairs Crumb Cake & Smoky Slate inks for this stunning look. Again, I colored the rhinestones with the matching Crumb Cake Blendabilitie marker.

Off to finish wrapping gifts and getting my home ready for little ones. Can't wait to hear their squeals as they open their gifts!

Don't forget about the huge end of year clearance with items up to 80% off and this week's specials with items that are 25% off.

Simply "Sparkling" with Joy!

I created this simple card this morning. It had been on my mind for some time, but had not figured out how to adhere the vellum without the adhesive showing.

At some point during my menopause induced wakefulness last night, a light bulb went off! Use glue dots only underneath the sequins, which are adhered on top of the vellum with glue dots...it worked like a charm.

This is a very quick card to put together. It uses just the one splatter stamp from the Gorgeous "MUST HAVE" Grunge set from Stampin' Up! I stamped it using Smoky Slate ink, then the vellum is adhered over that. I think the glittery "Joy"  along with sprinkles of sequins and rhinestones makes this card very festive!

Trash to Treasure

I admit it, I should just be resting today. I have been feeling a bit under the weather for a few days and really need to just catch up on some rest. Instead, I've been trying to clean up a bit in between the "resting" (watching Christmas movies and drinking pumpkin spice coffee). As I was cleaning off one of my messy stamping areas, I noticed that the Stampin' Up! Grid Paper I had been using as a scrap looked quite wonderful with the mix of colors and images. I could not throw it away and should have taken a picture of the entire page before I started gleefully cutting it up.

Don't forget that in the midst of what we would normally call trash, a treasure might be found. This is a great way to use up scraps of cardstock that you have saved. Imagine the possibilities of an entire pad of Grid Paper?? Yes, I think you must have it. Not only is it a great way to help you position your layers and your images, it is a great way to recycle after you are done and want a clean piece under your next stamping project. I hope my "trash to treasure" helps you look at your "trash" in a different manner.

I'm only listing a partial product list as there are so many different stamp sets and ink colors represented. If you want to know about a particular image or color, please contact me. (hint: one of the stamp images is from the new Sale-A-Bration Catalog and is a must have)

Golden Glow Luminary

This is another project for my class this Saturday. The luminary itself was very simple to make using the Curvy Keepsakes Box Thinlits die. The battery operated lights were purchased on Amazon.

I made the tassel removable by using a gold paper clip to attach the embellishments to. It makes it much easier to open the box to turn the light on and off. The tassel looks good as an ornament all by itself and I even think I see some new tassel earrings in my future...the possibilities are endless.

Holiday Gift Bag

I just love it when a plan comes together! I am hosting a Bag, Tag & Box Class at my home this Saturday. This is one of the gift bags we will be making.

I had been thinking about doing one with black, neutrals & glittery silver and I'm really pleased with how it turned out. This was made using an ordinary lunch sack. I went through my scraps to find pieces for this one! I tend to not throw anything away, because you never know when you might need a small bit of this or that for a project. The star was cut from a piece of cardboard that I deconstructed a bit. If you look close, you can tell I used the new little stapler all over this project. By the way, I have found that Fast Fuze is a quick, good adhesive to use when adhering cardstock to these bags.

Contemporary Christmas Card Duo

I've had such fun this weekend playing with the Tree Punch and the Ornamental Pine set. Pair all of those ideas and add in a stamping buddy who has been sending me pics of her Tree Punch cards and you end up with a stack of Tree Punch cards!

The one on the left is very similar to the one I posted here yesterday, only in black & white with a pop of Real Red cardstock thrown in for good measure. The one on the right was inspired by one my good friend Vicki Burk made, only hers was in more traditional colors and used DSP for the tree. I colored the Rhinestone Basics with Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities to embellish the one on the left and the Black & White Bakers Twine adds a bit of interest to the card on the right.

I just love the way this card looks with the white layer popped up with double Dimensionals.

Coastal Cabana Christmas? Yes, please...

I just love this color! Kind of beachy, somewhat crisp. That Ornamental Pine set just keeps showing up in my Christmas cards. The greeting is from the Good Greetings set that was a promotional set during October, but you could substitute another greeting.

I simply stamped the pine bough on a smaller piece of the Coastal Cabana cardstock and embossed it with White Stampin' Emboss Powder. That piece was adhered flat to the base piece of Coastal Cabana before the top layer was popped up using double (gasp) Dimensionals. Doubling those up really pumps up the WOW factor of this card. I thought the stamp from the Dotty Angles set went along quite nicely with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I added the Rhinestone Basics at the very end.

Blackberry Bliss(fullness) and Save up to 80% Stampin' Up! Year End Closeout Begins Today!

I have a little Blackberry Bliss project for your viewing pleasure today. And the best part of this project? Paper from the Designer Series Paper pack called "Color Me Autumn" was used for the bag & box and it is on sale for $7.69 during the clearance sale.

Yes, that is a little Curvy Keepsake Box below. If you haven't ordered the die for this tiny treasure yet, it is a "must have". There are so many project ideas using this die floating around on Pinterest, you may lose sleep. (I have!) The gift bag was made using some simple folds and cuts. Super easy.

I just love the way the Stampin' Up! Whisper White Craft Ink looks on this paper. I stamped the "snow" using a stamp from Gorgeous Grunge. If you remember in some of my previous posts, that stamp set hardly ever leaves my stamp table. It has such potential for enhancing so many stamp projects.

Ornamental Pine Noel & On-Line Extravaganza Preview

I can almost smell the pine needles! Even though I love non-traditional colors used for holiday cards, it is easy to be in love with the more traditional colors.

After I stamped the top panel, I die cut the word Noel from that panel and then cut 5 (yes, 5) more layers of the word Noel from the Real Red card stock. I glued all of them together. This is how I achieved the raised area. I somewhat offset the last red layer, just to give it a bit more pop. And yes, the red speckles are from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. That set never leaves my stamping table, do you have it??

I colored rhinestones with the Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities to add just the right amount of sparkle. Don't forget, the Blendabilities will dry on non-porous surfaces.

One other card made with this stamp set with a bit of Gorgeous Grunge mixed in. This one is a bit quicker to make, but still quite lovely.

Joyful + Grunge...Grungeful?

I know..."grungeful" really isn't a word. (I googled it). However, I was thinking if you mixed joyful and grunge, it could almost be a word. It is absolutely what comes to mind when I see this card. You may have seen the anniversary card from yesterday using a similar technique. (click here) This is a bit more of a stepped up version and I dearly love it! If you do not own the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set, run, don't walk to the little "shop now" button below and let me help you become addicted to it like I am. I use so many of the different images as enhancements to my projects, I almost never put it away.

Bet you never would have thought to mix Gorgeous Grunge with the Wonderful Wreath Framelits dies.  Here is a close up:

The pictures do not do this card justice. It is SO much better in person. I have had many of you who have seen this card ask me exactly how I did it. I am working on a similar design using the Noel die cut and I will post some step by step photos along with that sample in the next few days, so sign up to get updates from my blog to make sure you see that post. I will also be posting a few other ideas mixing these Framelits and that stamp set. Both need to be on your "I must have it now" list.

Anniversary Card & Weekly Deals

Yesterday was our anniversary. Yep...been married 33 years to the love of my life. He is amazing and completely supports my addiction to rubber stamps and all things artsy. With him in mind, I came up with this simple card. I think the neutral colors give it a more masculine feel. I saw a card on Pinterest that totally inspired this piece.

I colored the rhinestones with Crumb Cake Blendabilities! I think the Blendabilities are one of the most versatile products Stampin' Up! came up with this past year. You can customize so many of your embellishments and other non-porous surfaces, not to mention coloring your stamped images with them. I achieved the splatter look with just one stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge. After initially stamping the image with either Crumb Cake or Smoky Slate ink, I stamped it a few more times without re-inking it.

The sentiment is from that cool set of stamps called Good Greetings that Stampin' Up! offered free with a $300 or more purchase this past October. The rest of the product list is here:

Creative Blog Hop

Last week,  fellow Stampin' Pretty Pal Katie Ferguson (Cottage Paper) tagged me for the Creative Blog Hop. As part of this Hop, the participant provides information related to his or her creative process by discussing the following of these four items:

1. What projects am I currently working on?
I am constantly working on cards and 3-D projects for workshops, events and for giving away to friends, family & clients. I am really loving vellum & anything with bling and glitter right now, so you might say I "sparkle" a bit. Today is my anniversary. My husband and I have been married 33 years. Below is a sneak peek of the card I made him, which will be featured in a blog post tomorrow.

2. How is my work different from other papercrafters?
Well...I don't know that my work is truly that different. I say this because I know I am strongly influenced by other artists I see on my favorite blogs and on Pinterest. However, many times, it is just a layout or color combination that I am influenced by. When I do the actually creating, it is more me than them. Of course, there are times when something is just TOO good not to CASE. The card above is quite like something I saw on Pinterest. I loved it so much, I had to put my spin on it and make it for my hubby.

3. Why do I create the projects I create?
Creating for me is an integral part of who/what I am. I also love sharing  what I create, learn or "come up with", with others. This is why being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator is such a good fit for me.

4. My creative process...
When I am getting ready to come up with a new project, I normally will sit down with a cup of coffee and browse Pinterest. Not just to look at other cards or crafts.  Many times, it is to look at other types of artwork, such as paintings, sculptures and drawings. I also love to look at websites like Anthropoligie. Sometimes it's a plate or a vase that inspires the layout or colors on a card I make. Sometimes it's a layout in a fashion magazine that inspires me. Above all else, I love the creative process and adore happy accidents.

As part of this hop, bloggers choose another blogger to "tag" and that blogger will then participate with a blog post the next week. I knew I wanted to tag a fellow Pal, but did have a hard time just choosing one! I chose Wendy Klein of DogGone Delightful Stampin'. Wendy's blog is one I regularly check in on to see what she is up to. You can tell she loves papercrafting and her warm personality (along with her obvious talent) comes through with every post she makes. Here is a little bit about Wendy:

Wendy Klein was born in Bismarck, North Dakota, but was raised from the age of two in the Front Range of Colorado.  She spent the first sixteen years of her adult career as a Legal Secretary/Paralegal, and is now an Engineering Aide with Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company following in her father's footsteps and carrying on the family tradition of his 29 years at the company.  Wendy is a creative soul who has always needed something to stimulate her creative juices, first pursuing embroidery, cross-stitching, scrapbooking, basket-making, and teaching herself to crochet; later a long-time "surrogate mom" taught her to quilt, and this has become her passion and first love.  During the past decade of pursuing her love of sewing, she discovered rubber stamping and paper crafting, and the Studio now serves as the sewing room and a place of pure stamping pleasure!  Wendy is thoroughly enjoying sharing her love of cards and creating with others, and spends most of her free time in her little Studio creating designs and dreaming of the next fun project.  With the Holidays coming, she is looking forward to crafting special gifts for all her friends and family.

Check out Wendy's blog www.doggonedelightfulstampin.com to see for yourself. Then check out her post next Monday to see her discussion of how she works.

I hope your day is a creative one! Come back tomorrow for the details on the anniversary card I made for my hubby.

Artfully Yours,
Kim

Fabulous Four Feathers

Feathers are everywhere...just look at Pinterest. I needed to make a birthday card for my dear hubby and I had been wanting to try the baby wipe technique too, so these cards are the result.

The matching die cuts and magnetic Big Shot platform make this look a snap to put together. The middle feather was stamped using the baby wipe technique. The outer 2 feathers were colored with the regular Stampin' Up! Markers.

I watercolored a piece of Stampin' Up! watercolor paper, stamped on it to give it depth and die cut the feather in the back. The middle one was another one where I colored the stamp with markers before stamping. The front feather was stamped and embossed on vellum.

Message me with any questions. Product list below:
