With Sympathy

Sympathy cards are so hard to make at times. In a perfect world, I would always have a stash of cards made that I could add a sentiment to in times like this, but that doesn't always happen. All products Stampin' Up!

I've said before that there are rarely mistakes in stamping. See the background on this card? This started out as the background I was going to use for the deer card I made yesterday. (click here to see that card) However, I decided I wanted a brighter color behind the deer and I think the Bermuda Bay worked well. The watercolor wash on this card was made by using a bit of ink from the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. That particular ink is water-based, so you can watercolor with it. I also colored the leaf with it, but didn't dilute the ink as much to achieve a deeper color.

The sentiment is from the Rose Wonder stamp set. The speckles are from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. (that particular stamp set NEVER leaves my stamping area) I finished the card off with Basic Black Metallic Thread and Rhinestones. The leaf is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Supply List:

Want to earn a free gift during the month of October? Simply place an online order between $50 & $149.99 (not including tax & shipping) and use the hostess code shown in the top of the right hand column of this page. Your gift will be mailed around the second week of November. If your order is over $150, don't use the hostess code...you get all of the hostess benefits at that point! If you will be using the hostess code, see below for instructions on how to do so.

Be sure and do not check "no contact" from demonstrator. If you do that, I will not be able to see your contact information to send your hostess gift.

As always, let me know if you have any questions about the project or the products used. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Artfully Yours,

Kim

  1. Hi Kim: This is a stunning card with great sophistication. I am at the age where I send many sympathy cards, and I appreciate having another idea for a card. You did a beautiful job. Like you, I keep the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set near the top of my stash as well! I always enjoy your works. God Bless.

  2. Kim, this is an absolutely perfect card. I've got like 5 sympathy cards I need to make; this will definitely be CASEd for one of them. So classically lovely.
