Artsy Painted Harvest: Video Tutorial

I posted a few "artsy" looking cards last week using the Painted Harvest Bundle from the new Stampin' Up! 2017 Holiday Catalog. (click here to see the post) Below are a few more samples using the same technique and similar layout of one of them, along with a video showing how I created the cards.

I used Berry Burst Classic Ink and Tuxedo Black Memento Ink for the card above.

I used Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink and Tuxedo Black Memento Ink for the card above. I dyed a piece of Emerald Envy Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon with Basic Black Archival Ink so I could have black crinkled ribbon for this card. (I will be posting a video soon of the quick process I used to dye the ribbon) I punched the leafy piece using the punch that is in this bundle. I punched the leaves from Basic Black cardstock and colored them with Clear Wink of Stella.

In the video below, I show how I created the Pumpkin Pie version of this card.

I used a tiny bit of ordinary cheese cloth placed under the sentiment to add interest to the card below.

Look how the black ink sinks in to the crevices of the embossed image on the card below!

2017 Holiday Catalog: A Few Of My Favorite Things

I don't know about you, but I am ready to get going on my fall and holiday crafting projects! Lucky for me (and you), the new holiday catalog is filled with tons of great products and ideas. This is by no means a complete list of my favorites, just a few I am currently completely enamored with. As I have a chance to work with more of the products, I will send out a part 2.

If you haven't had a chance to browse the catalog yet, click here for a pdf version of the catalog.

Here is a handy wish list to keep track of your personal favorites.

First on my list? This probably won't shock you, but it is the Painted Harvest Bundle

I think this stamp set and punch are very versatile. This is a sneak peek of a card I've made using this set that I will be posting a video tutorial on in a few days. I have also had two other blog posts using this stamp set. See them here and here

Look at the wreath card made with this set in the photo below! I haven't made a Christmas card with this set yet, but I know I will. There are also coordinating embellishments, trim and Designer Series Paper.

One more card below using the same technique that will be featured in the upcoming video tutorial. By now, I'm thinking this bundle should be on your list!

Next up: metallics. To be more specific, let's talk MIXED METALLICS. If this hot trend is right up your alley, Stampin' Up! has you covered!

The suite includes quite a few options for making your projects shine. This video from Stampin' Up! shows the suite in greater detail.

The Remarkable InkBig Blog Hop: Thank You Cards

Welcome to the Blog Hop for July 2017. This month our theme is Thank You cards.  You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog – Stampin' Artfully or may have come from the person previous to me in the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all the projects. At the moment you are visiting Stampin' Artfully.

A few days ago, I had a blog post (see it here) called With One Stamp, using one flower image from the new Painted Harvest stamp set, along with a few different sentiments. This is going to be a new feature on my blog, where I encourage you to see your stamps in a different way, stretching your imagination to the possibilities of the images in the various stamp sets you own/need or are "must haves". All products Stampin' Up!

I have a dear friend named Vicki. We have been friends since about 1992. We started stamping at about the same time. When she saw the samples on my blog post from a few days ago, she mentioned that the flower image from Touches of Texture might work in a similar fashion. When she mentioned that to me, my immediate thought was, I bet I could layer it on top of the base flower from Painted Harvest. Well...as you can see, it works!

I stamped the largest flower image from Painted Harvest (available September 1st) twice with Crushed Curry. I stamped the grungy flower image from Touches of Texture with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. The sentiment is from Thoughtful Banners, stamped with same black ink and punched out with the Classic Label Punch. The black rhinestone I used (yes, I'm squealing right now!) will be available in the new holiday catalog September 1st. I will be randomly applying them to just about everything I stamp.

Thanks for taking part in our blog hop, there are so many amazing ideas and inspiration you don’t want to miss. Remember that currently you are at my blog – Stampin' Artfully, so check the blog hop line up list to see who is next in the list.

As always, let me know if you have any questions about the project or the products used.

With One Stamp: Painted Harvest

When I first started stamping, I didn't have very many supplies. I would work and re-work the stamp images I had, using them for backgrounds, design elements, etc, mostly in ways that the stamp wasn't really intended to be used. I'm not talking about word stamps necessarily, although there are MANY uses for random word stamps. Once I had my interesting design, I would find a word stamp that worked with the design. This makes for a great way to stretch your stamps and get your creative juices flowing. I am planning on making this a regular feature on my blog. All products Stampin' Up!

Today, I'm going to show you three ways I used the largest flower stamp from the new Painted Harvest set, available in the new holiday catalog on September 1st. The top layer of each card is watercolor paper.

For the card above, each image was stamped three times on top of each other to deepen the color. I used Lemon Lime Twist and Bermuda Bay inks. Then I spritzed it with water and let gravity do its job. I thought the sentiment from the Colorful Seasons stamp set worked perfectly for this. Sometimes the design "tells" you which words you need!

For the card above, I only used Bermuda Bay. I stamped it repeatedly using, first, second and third generation image stamping. (sometimes called "smack down technique") Basically, you are stamping the image three times before inking it up again. I love the way the color kind of feathers out. The sentiment is from Painted Harvest. I added a tiny bit of bling to this card.

For the above card, I randomly stamped the image all over the background, not really paying any attention to placement. I stamped it until I had the color I wanted and then spritzed it with water at the top of the page and once again, letting gravity do its job. I used Bermuda Bay and Lemon Lime Twist inks. The sentiment is from Painted Harvest.

InKing Royalty Blog Hop: Fall Favs

Welcome to InKing Royalty's August Blog Hop!  Today's Blog Hop is filled with projects inspired by some of our favorite Fall-themed products.  What fun!  Stampin' Up!'s catalogs (both the Annual Catalog and soon-to-be-released Holiday Catalog) are filled with so many fun products for the Autumn holidays - and we are excited to share our creations with you today.  After you read my post, I hope you'll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

I was completely honored to be asked by the famous Brian King to participate in his InKing Royalty Blog Hop! Since the theme is Fall Favs, I immediately thought of using the new Painted Harvest stamp set (with matching punch) from the new Holiday Catalog available September 1st. The artistic nature of this set had my name written all over it. All products Stampin' Up!

Look how artsy the flowers look! This set has some great images along with a coordinating punch for the little leaf image.

I used Crushed Curry for the bottom flower image, Cajun Craze (stamped off once) for the second or top flower image and Soft Suede for the flower center. I used the tiny dot stamp to emboss gold dots on the center of each flower. I used Old Olive for the leafy bits. The curved piece on front is Soft Suede cut curvy with a die, but could be done free hand. I embossed it with the Layered Leaves Dynamic Embossing Folder.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you'll hop along to the next stop on the blog hop,  Julie DeMatteo over at The Paper PixieThere's lots of inspiration to be found in this group - and you don't want to miss it!

Butterfly Birthday

Is it really August 13?? This card is one I did for the Splitcoast Creative Crew this past May. Doesn't it just scream summer?

For more details on this card and a link to the actual tutorial, which is "embossing folder stamping", click here. I used two of the new In Colors, Tranquil Tide and Lemon Lime Twist.
