Scented Butterfly (with bits intact) Tutorial & New Sale-A-Bration Items

Seriously. I need help. I can't seem to put away Stampin' Up's new Butterfly Basics stamp set and matching dies. I'm sure by now you have seen all of the amazing videos online showing how to use dryer sheets to make removing the bits from the intricate butterfly die a snap. This got me thinking...I really love it when the bits are all there!

How gorgeous is this butterfly with bits included and some lovely polka dots? I love that all of the tiny pieces are there, but can you imagine having to glue all of them back in the holes? Ridiculousness. I did come up with a plan. An easy peasy way to get the look with very little effort. I haven't seen this anywhere else online, so it may really be "my" idea. Watch the slideshow with instructions included, then I will give you a few more tips. If you are viewing this post in an email, you may have to click on over to my blog.

When trimming away the dryer sheet, be gentle. As you will find out when pulling away the border from the intact butterfly, it will pull away from your card stock with very little effort. Also, due to the texture of the dryer sheet under the butterfly, I am using actual glue (Liquid Multipurpose Glue) to adhere the butterfly to my card. This seems to work very well.

I used lavender scented dryer sheets for my project, so the card has a nice floral scent. A little unintended outcome to using the dryer sheet, but with Spring just around the corner, it is perfect! I just love this look and hope you have fun with it. Other than the dryer sheets, product details are below.

  5. Wow, what a wonderful idea. Thank you so much for sharing this. I’ve not seen it anywhere else either and yes I too have seen a lot of stuff with this die. Your finished card is stunning, spring / summery, fresh and crisp looking. And if that wasn’t enough your tutorial is great too. Thank you so much Kim.
