CAS(E) this Sketch #112

I'm thinking the first step toward knowing you have a problem, is admitting it, right? I could sit (and have) for hours, pinning to my little heart's content. With that said, if you too are a Pinterest Junkie, you have more than likely seen the "bokeh" technique on stamping projects. I think it is just gorgeous, but had not tried it yet. I thought this current CAS(E) this Sketch would be a perfect avenue for this. However, my attempt ended up being well...bokeh gone wrong. All products are Stampin' Up!

This is Chrissy Larson's sketch that inspired my card:

I had used Lost Lagoon & Pear Pizzaz inks with my brayer & sponges to create the first color layer. Then I sponged random spots on top with Whisper White Craft Ink and Lost Lagoon. I didn't like the way that looked, so for grins, I embossed the Whisper White circles with White Stampin' Emboss Powder. Wow...too bold, so I colored/scribbled the white circles with the lightest Old Olive Blendabilitie. Didn't like that either, so when all else fails: soften the look with vellum!

I used the Handheld Stapler to attach the word.

Love, love how the vellum looks over my "bokeh gone wrong". I only attached the vellum under the layers in the middle where the word is. Stampin' Up! vellum has so much body, I can normally get away with adhering it only in random spots.

  1. Kim there is not one thing about this lovely card that falls into the "gone wrong" category - edit this post immediately!! =] I, for one, adore the slip of vellum softening your beautiful water-colored paper. Very pretty take on the sketch!!

  3. Michele took the words right out of my thoughts. I just had to comment on your card - I love it and the vellum and how you attached it is wonderful! I love vellum but always struggle with ways of using it on a card w/o being obvious on how I adhered it to the card.
Your attempt gone wrong is so right on! Love it!

  5. It may be "bokeh gone wrong" but it's a lovely background, nonetheless!
