Simple Sympathy Card & New Weekly Deals!

I found out a few days ago that one of our client's husbands had passed away. As I read the beautiful tribute to his life written by his wife, I knew I needed to send her a card.

This is a one layer card that is simple, but elegant. With falling leaves on the horizon, I thought it fitting to use a leaf image for this card.

Rich Razzleberry & Daffodil Delight Blendabilities

Blendabilities offer a complete WOW factor like nothing else I've used. The richness of the shading it is possible to achieve with these alcohol based markers is just beautiful. Forgive me, I did smudge the top of this card with an inky finger, but didn't see it until it was too late. I am hoping the beauty of the flower makes it not so noticeable!

I stamped the flower from the Hostess set Bloom with Hope with  Tuxedo Black Memento on Whisper White cardstock, then used Daffodil Delight and Rich Razzleberry Blendabilities to color it in. Selective use of the Color Lifter really brings the flower to life. The leaves are from the same set and stamped with Stampin' Up! Old Olive Classic Stampin' Pad and the other images from Gorgeous Grunge are stamped with Daffodil Delight & Rich Razzleberry Classic Stampin' Pads.

I highlighted areas of the flower center with tiny dots using the Signo uni-ball gel pen. After cutting out the flower, I used a small stylus to trace the lines around the edges of the petals, pushing down slightly to "dent" the paper. Then I flipped the paper over upside down and used the large end of the stylus to plump or gently push out the areas inside the dented lines. The texture this technique creates is quite lovely. The picture below doesn't do it justice. Used some Linen Thread for added interest and doubled up on the Stampin' Dimensionals to pop the flower up. Doubling them really adds a certain oomph to the card. I think this flower is screaming "look at me"!

Brown Paper (Gift Bag)

I truly love brown paper. Give me a brown paper bag or a piece of that brown paper on a roll and I am in heaven. I have made many things over the years with brown paper, but this little project is one of my favorites.

How cute is this?? The little band slips right off so you can fill the bag up.

I cut the top off of a brown lunch bag, leaving it 6 inches tall. The  striped DSP is 6 inches by the width of the bag. ( my bag was about 5 inches wide) I used Snail to attach it to the front of the bag. The back piece is 9 inches by the width of the bag, scored at 3 inches. (this gives you the flap) Use Snail to attach the paper to the back of the bag. Create a band that will fit down over the bag when it is closed and add embellishments, tags, buttons...let your imagination run wild.

Fill it up with your favorite craft supplies for a friend.

Even looks good from the back!

This is very simple to make, but does make a statement. The materials I used in addition to the brown paper bag are listed below.
