Happy Thanksgiving: Feeling Blessed Today

Happy Thanksgiving! I woke up feeling blessed today. Blessed to have close family and friends that I know will not let me down and are appreciative that we are in their lives.

Life has thrown my husband and I some curve balls these last few years. Some pretty bad stuff. A combination of a Jerry Springer show and a horror movie all rolled in to one. Young lives have been ruined and I have found that bad people can lie and get away with terrible things at times and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. I have found it hard to breathe some days. After a particularly harrowing situation about a year ago,  we decided to stop dwelling on the bad things and things we have no control over. Stopped letting those things rule the day. Instead, we let joy and thankfulness rule the day. I'm not saying we are never sad or unhappy about the things that have happened. We just realize that life is too short to be upset 24/7.

On to the card for today: how do you turn holly leaves in to autumn leaves? When you stamp them with Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie! All products Stampin' Up!

I just love the texture of the holly leaves in the Good Tidings set. I have tried stamping them in many different colors for interesting backgrounds and they all look lovely. By keeping the leaves and the holly berries in autumn tones, it completely changes the look from Christmas to Autumn.

InKing Royalty Blog Hop: Fall Favs

Welcome to InKing Royalty's August Blog Hop!  Today's Blog Hop is filled with projects inspired by some of our favorite Fall-themed products.  What fun!  Stampin' Up!'s catalogs (both the Annual Catalog and soon-to-be-released Holiday Catalog) are filled with so many fun products for the Autumn holidays - and we are excited to share our creations with you today.  After you read my post, I hope you'll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

I was completely honored to be asked by the famous Brian King to participate in his InKing Royalty Blog Hop! Since the theme is Fall Favs, I immediately thought of using the new Painted Harvest stamp set (with matching punch) from the new Holiday Catalog available September 1st. The artistic nature of this set had my name written all over it. All products Stampin' Up!

Look how artsy the flowers look! This set has some great images along with a coordinating punch for the little leaf image.

I used Crushed Curry for the bottom flower image, Cajun Craze (stamped off once) for the second or top flower image and Soft Suede for the flower center. I used the tiny dot stamp to emboss gold dots on the center of each flower. I used Old Olive for the leafy bits. The curved piece on front is Soft Suede cut curvy with a die, but could be done free hand. I embossed it with the Layered Leaves Dynamic Embossing Folder.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you'll hop along to the next stop on the blog hop,  Julie DeMatteo over at The Paper PixieThere's lots of inspiration to be found in this group - and you don't want to miss it!

Artfully Yours,

Thoughtful Branches {artful inspiration}

Like everyone else, I love all things Pinterest. I find so much inspiration on that site! For today's card, I did a search for "tree art" on there. I knew I wanted to use the tree die cut from the Thoughtful Branches bundle. (Only available until August 31, unless supplies run out before then) This is what I found today. I'm linking the original site to make sure I give the artist proper credit.

When I am going to use a painting for my inspiration, I'm always keeping in mind the stamp images I own and how I might possibly recreate or at least suggest the brush strokes of the original painting. For this project, I knew I could use the leaf canopy stamp from this set.

I think it worked out well for a simple, yet striking card. The colorful portion of this card started out as Whisper White cardstock and measures 2.25 x 5.5 inches.

Supply List:

The Thoughtful Branches bundle is only available until August 31, but if they run out before that day gets here, it will be too late to purchase it.  I have done several different samples with this bundle. Click here to see them.

I would appreciate it more than you know, if you ordered anything you need from my online store available by clicking on the link above. If you haven't signed up for my blog updates, please do so now. I will be sending a message just before September 1 with reminders about the new holiday catalog.

Want to earn free shipping during the month of August?? Simply place an order online with me using the hostess code above right for at least $50 before tax & shipping. (This is my promotion, not a Stampin' Up! promotion) Just after September 1, I will either mail you check or refund the shipping cost to your paypal account. Your choice. Be sure and do not check "no contact" from demonstrator. If you do that, I will not be able to see your contact information to reimburse you.

As always, let me know if you have any questions about the project or the products used. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Pals Blog Hop: Halloween & Harvest

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for October where we are celebrating an early Fall season by sharing Halloween and Autumn projects using our wonderful Stampin’ Up! supplies.  We hope you enjoy our creations!

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Jennifer Michalski's  Stamping Serenity blognumber 17 on the Pals Hop.  If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all the projects.

I have a tip to share. As I was getting ready to make this project, I realized I didn't have any black & orange DSP (designer series paper). However, I did have some black & white DSP from the Go Wild Designer Series Paper Stack, which I brayered with Pumpkin Pie ink to make the paper used on this project. This technique will work with just about any ink color. Don't you just love this Go Wild DSP? The 6x6 size is so easy to work with and perfect for so many projects.

Don't forget to do a bit of stamping on the inside of the card to pull the look together.

The little wispy black pieces are just narrow strips of cardstock I curled with my bone folder. The matching envelope liner really completes the ensemble. Full product list below blog lineup.

The next stop is Becky Volp's Ink Blossom blog, number 19 on the Pals Blog Hop!  Thanks for visiting; I hope to see you on next month’s Pals Hop!

Simple Sympathy Card & New Weekly Deals!

I found out a few days ago that one of our client's husbands had passed away. As I read the beautiful tribute to his life written by his wife, I knew I needed to send her a card.

This is a one layer card that is simple, but elegant. With falling leaves on the horizon, I thought it fitting to use a leaf image for this card.

Pals August 2014 Blog Hop: Too Cool For School

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for August. This month we are showing off our favorite crafting tools - those Stampin' Up! tools that we just can't live without. We hope you enjoy our projects!

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Amy Hoptay's Inking of You Blog, #29 on the Pals Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

I chose to show you an example of how I use my favorite tool: the Big Shot. The leaves are from the Autumn Accents Bigz die and I just love how you can make leaves that look almost real or even funky, depending on the paper & inks you use. The tab was cut using the File Tab Edgelits die.

I won't bore you with all of the details, as I know you want to get on with the hop, but a few little tips for you: you can color the Pearl Basics with the Gold Stampin' Dazzle Marker (or the Silver) and it dries to a very cool, somewhat matte finish. You can see them below on the rust leaf. Also, to create veins and texture on your leaves, you can use a stylus to create grooves and a graphite pencil to help enhance the grooves. Another tip: I lightly colored Baked Brown Sugar Thick Baker's Twine with an Old Olive Blendabilities marker. I think it worked pretty well to give a hint of color. I also tried it on some light colored ribbon I had and that worked also.

A few of the products used in this project are from the new holiday catalog. These items will be available on August 28. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any specific questions you may have.

The next stop is  Donna Kopenski's CraftyCardMaker Blog, #31 on the Pals Blog Hop! Thanks for visiting and  I hope to see you next month.
