Rose Wonder/Rose Garden Thinlits Bundle

I love a deal. Especially a deal on something that I know I will use a lot and is a "must have" for my stash. The Rose Wonder stamp set and Rose Garden Thinlits are the deal I'm reminding you about today. Did you know after May 31, the bundle pricing will not be available? Warning: long post with several samples.

These are just some of the cards I have made using this set. (just in case you are on the fence) All products Stampin' Up!

For the sample above, I actually stamped 2 of the flower/leaf images, watercolored them using various inks and cut them apart and layered them to create the look. The gold frame was cut using 2 different sizes of the (retiring) Deco Labels Collection Framelits. After I cut the frame, I tapped Versamark ink on it and embossed it with Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder.

The sample above almost didn't happen. I say that because the watercolor panel with the blobs of gold glitter on it was just about to be thrown away. It was laying on my desk (in the clutter) and I had moved on to a different Rose project using the die cut. Well...happy accidents DO happen. I had set the Rose die cut down and when I came back to it, it was laying on top of the trash-bound watercolor panel. There you go...a serendipitous situation. I ended up liking that not all of the bits were gone from the die cut and just made sure I put enough adhesive under them to hold them in.

The above sample is tastefully simple. I used (retiring) Lost Lagoon paper & ink. The white splatters were made using my favorite splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge and some White Stampin' Emboss Powder. The butterfly has Wink of Stella on it to make it sparkle, it just doesn't show up well in this picture.

The above card was very quick to make. I stamped some Whisper White paper with the Definitely Dahlia background stamp. I die cut the smaller rose from the thinlit set and glued it down on top of the stamped image, then trimmed it. The black die cut leaves are from the same set. Added a few splatters, 3 rhinestones and a simple word and I was done.

There you have it...if you don't own the Rose Wonder stamp set and the Rose Garden Thinlits, I would order them now. The bundle price (good until May 31) is $49.25 plus shipping & tax. Starting June 1, you will need to order them separately and miss out on the 15% bundle savings.

Time is running out to grab your favorites that are on the Stampin' Up! retiring list!  (some are up to 50% off) The deadline for ordering is May 31 or when supplies run out.  Click this link for a pdf file listing all retiring items.

Please use the hostess code shown in the top right corner when ordering online, unless your order will total $150 before shipping & tax. At that point, you become your own hostess and get all the rewards!

As always, let me know if you have any questions about the projects or the products used. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Trash to Treasure

I admit it, I should just be resting today. I have been feeling a bit under the weather for a few days and really need to just catch up on some rest. Instead, I've been trying to clean up a bit in between the "resting" (watching Christmas movies and drinking pumpkin spice coffee). As I was cleaning off one of my messy stamping areas, I noticed that the Stampin' Up! Grid Paper I had been using as a scrap looked quite wonderful with the mix of colors and images. I could not throw it away and should have taken a picture of the entire page before I started gleefully cutting it up.

Don't forget that in the midst of what we would normally call trash, a treasure might be found. This is a great way to use up scraps of cardstock that you have saved. Imagine the possibilities of an entire pad of Grid Paper?? Yes, I think you must have it. Not only is it a great way to help you position your layers and your images, it is a great way to recycle after you are done and want a clean piece under your next stamping project. I hope my "trash to treasure" helps you look at your "trash" in a different manner.

I'm only listing a partial product list as there are so many different stamp sets and ink colors represented. If you want to know about a particular image or color, please contact me. (hint: one of the stamp images is from the new Sale-A-Bration Catalog and is a must have)

Fabulous Four Feathers

Feathers are everywhere...just look at Pinterest. I needed to make a birthday card for my dear hubby and I had been wanting to try the baby wipe technique too, so these cards are the result.

The matching die cuts and magnetic Big Shot platform make this look a snap to put together. The middle feather was stamped using the baby wipe technique. The outer 2 feathers were colored with the regular Stampin' Up! Markers.

I watercolored a piece of Stampin' Up! watercolor paper, stamped on it to give it depth and die cut the feather in the back. The middle one was another one where I colored the stamp with markers before stamping. The front feather was stamped and embossed on vellum.

Message me with any questions. Product list below:

Celebrate!

When I saw the stamp below (which includes the words beneath it, I just new it begged to be shaded and colored. This stamp is from the hostess set Life's Adventure. To see a prior project made using an image from this set, click here.

For this card, I stamped the image on  Stampin' Up! watercolor paper with Black Staz-On ink. Then using the Lost Lagoon & Hello Honey Stampin' Write Marker, I colored it in. I kept the left hand side of the image softer as if there was a light source on that side. After I applied marker to the right side of the image right next to the black outline, I used the blender pen to soften and "drag" color across the white space of the image, getting lighter as I moved to the left side. The base of the cake stand was colored using a mix of Lost Lagoon & Early Espresso Stampin' Write markers using the same technique. Using the amazing Stampin' Trimmer with the rotary addition, I cut the rest of my layers.

Using Sticky Strip, I adhered the watercolor piece to the Lost Lagoon colored layering pieces. (There are two) One layer was from a piece of a gorgeous design from the Flower Pot Designer Series Paper, the other was from the Lost Lagoon Cardstock. I set this group of papers aside. Using a piece of Hello Honey Cardstock to fit the front of the card, I embossed it using the Big Shot and the Polka Dot Textured Impressions folder. Using Sticky Strip, I adhered that piece to the front of a folded card base made from Lost Lagoon Cardstock. At that point, I tied Lost Lagoon 3/8 inch Satin Stitched ribbon around the top of the watercolor paper group, then using Dimensionals (I doubled them up for a more dramatic effect), I adhered it to the front of the card. The finishing touch was a tiny jewel from Rhinestone Basic Jewels. Isn't this pretty??

Don't forget about the Big Shot and Bundle Special! More info here. Purchase the Big Shot and receive a Bundle free. There are 5 stamp sets with matching framelits available. Just think, no "fussy cutting", just stamp and use the die to cut the image out.

I hope your day includes making some art and being good to yourself.

Kim
