Shabby Chic Christmas Wreath Card

I don't really decorate in the shabby chic style in my home, but have been thinking about going more toward that look for my bedroom. The thing is, until a few months ago, I really thought of most shabby chic home decor as lighter colors and pale neutrals. All of that changed when I ran across a business on Facebook and Instagram called All Shabbed Out. Click on this link to see her Facebook photo page. She uses rich, luscious color on the pieces she refinishes. The richness of some of the color combos along with some metallic is what gave me the inspiration for this card.

The bit of ribbon is some plain white seam binding that I dyed with Merry Merlot ink. I just tapped some ink on to a large zip lock bag (any non-stick surface will work). After tapping the ink on the surface, I spritzed with water and rubbed the ribbon on the surface to color it. I then wadded it up in my gloved hand so it would have wrinkles. I dried mine with my heat tool, but you can also let it air dry.

I used the "direct to embossing folder" method to color my background, using the Seasonal Wreath Dynamic Embossing Folder. I did this in layers, spritzing with a bit of water each time to soften the color.  After I was done with that part, I mixed some Old Olive reinker with the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint and painted the leaves on the wreath.

I am considering doing a video showing the ribbon & background technique. If this is something you would be interested in, please comment below!
